The sessions will covers critical topics like Generational differences in the workplace, corporate activism, and the growing influence of ESG on markets and stakeholders. By the end, you’ll have the tools and insights needed to navigate the evolving ESG landscape and its implications for your business.
The Role of Regulation and ESG Reporting
Participants will delve into the evolving governance (“G”) component of ESG and its role in driving organisational excellence. You’ll gain insights into the regulatory landscape, learning how to develop ESG strategies that align with business goals while meeting regulatory mandates. The session also covers ESG reporting, focusing on how to effectively communicate your ESG performance, navigate reporting standards, and avoid greenwashing. By the end, you’ll be equipped to leverage regulations and build trust with stakeholders through transparent and strategic ESG reporting.
ESG Leadership, Corporate Strategy & Value Creation
The segment provides a comprehensive guide to integrating ESG into corporate strategy and governance. You’ll explore key considerations for managing ESG risks, moving from compliance-driven approaches to proactive risk reduction, and best practices for designing an Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS). The session also covers the board’s role in ESG, examining debates on the material impact of ESG on corporate strategy and decision-making. Additionally, you’ll learn how to establish an effective ESG governance model tailored to your organization, with insights into board diversity, ESG oversight, and data-driven decision-making. The final session offers a reflection on the next steps, ensuring you’re equipped to engage the board, foster the right culture, and optimize ESG reporting.
The Role of Environment in TheBoardroom Africa
Regulators, investors, and clients are demanding that corporations improve their environmental performance. This increased scrutiny has pushed ESG onto board agendas. In this session, you will learn about the top environmental challenges facing corporations today. You will acquire knowledge of key environmental terminology and concepts and explore how changes to the environment impact financial performance. By the end of the session, you will understand the questions about environmental performance that leaders should be asking their organizations now.

She advises boards and senior executives on managing sustainability risks and opportunities. Rosalind serves on several corporate and non-profit boards, including discoverIE plc and CalBank Plc, and is a trusted authority in sectors like energy, finance, and healthcare. She is also an experienced non-executive director.
Alison Taylor
Alison Taylor is a Clinical Professor at NYU Stern School of Business, specialising in corporate integrity, risk, and responsibility. She serves as Executive Director of Ethical Systems and advises global companies on sustainability, ethics, and corporate strategy. A frequent speaker and writer, Alison’s work has been featured in leading publications like Harvard Business Review and Financial Times. She also holds senior advisory roles and is a board director at Preventable Surprises.
Janhavi Dadarkar
Janhavi has over 30 years of experience advising companies, directors, and entrepreneurs on corporate governance, company law, and intellectual property protection. She is a recognised expert in international commercial transactions and has worked with directors and organisations across sectors, including government and supranational bodies. Currently, she is the CEO of the Academy for Board Excellence and Programme Lead for IOD's Governance flagship programmes, with a passion for supporting business and philanthropic ventures as a non-executive and advisor.
Christine Uri
Christine is a seasoned C-Suite executive and former general counsel who led global legal and sustainability teams at a Fortune 500 energy company. Recognised as one of the Top 10 Women in Sustainability, she has extensive experience implementing ESG programmes on climate change, human rights, and ethics. Christine now advises executives on enhancing ESG performance and leads board training on integrating ESG principles into operations. She regularly shares insights on LinkedIn.
Marjorie Ngwenya
Marjorie is an independent non-executive director in the financial services sector and Chairperson of the Legal Resources Centre. She serves as an external member of the Prudential Regulation Committee of the Bank of England. A passionate leadership and life coach, she advocates for diversity, equity, and inclusion. As a Past President of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, she was its first person of colour and youngest president in 160 years.
